Welcome to the May Northern Cotton update.
Defoliation across the Northern Territory began in mid-May, with picking expected to commence in the last week of May or the first week of June. Here at the gin, we’re preparing to start receiving cotton in the first week of June, with ginning set to begin on the 16th.
Final site preparations are well underway to ensure a smooth and efficient season. Early burn-offs have been successfully completed to promote fire safety, and we’re now gearing up to welcome our seasonal workforce. Backpackers and casual staff will arrive shortly, with inductions and training sessions planned to get everyone up to speed.
Throughout the month, we've also had the pleasure of hosting a range of visitors, including government ministers, the biosecurity team and an agricultural tour group. It's been a great opportunity to showcase the facilities and see the industry engaged in our site and service offering.

MINISTER VISIT
Earlier this month, we had the pleasure of hosting Minister Gerard Maley, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, along with his advisors Jed Matz (Acting CEO, Department of Agriculture and Fisheries) and Susan King (Regional Director, Big Rivers Region).
The visit provided a valuable opportunity to showcase first-hand what we do here on site, the workforce we engage, the site's capabilities and the broader potential for industry growth right here in the Northern Territory.
The group was highly engaged, asking insightful questions and showing a strong interest in the operations and opportunities ahead. It's encouraging to see such enthusiasm and support at a leadership level as we continue to build a strong, sustainable future for our sector.
